SILENCED DOCUMENTARY AVAILABLE TO WATCH ON PRIME VIDEO DIRECTED BY SEREENA AL NOOR.
'SILENCED' is a documentary following domestic abuse survivor Sereena Al Noor as she dialogues with women from different backgrounds to uncover why black women do not seek justice in the name of abuse? Released in 2020, the documentary aims to encourage and raise the voices of black women in relation to experiencing domestic abuse and violence.
The Black ethnic minority in UK is estimated at 3% of the population. Between 2018-19 government statistics show 7.1% of those who identify as Black reported DV, however, details are not clear. Film creator, Sereena, is a survivor of child molestation and domestic abuse. 'Silenced' is used to educate on what abuse looks like, the effects of abuse on an individual, and as a means of informing others of the importance of seeking out and accepting support, which assists in the escape from bondage of trauma. Therefore, the piece content holds triggering aspects.
'SILENCED' is available to watch on Prime Video holding a 5-star viewer rating.
